How do we feel about commercial warehouse development in our township? Neighbors & community members' thoughts shared with you.
"Do not let it happen to you! DO NOT! This was a beautiful area when we moved here about 40 years ago. Now it's nothing but ugliness everywhere we look. No more places to walk with our dogs. Unbelievable traffic & noise. DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!!!"
"...good luck with your efforts to control over-development in your township. We used this quote from Margaret Mead to bolster our efforts: 'Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world: indeed, it's the only thing that ever has'."
"Duke Reality speaks to us about the jobs it will bring to the community. But will our community have the people to fill those jobs? East Penn Manufacturing is in constant need of employees even with their ability to offer a very high starting hourly rate. Most warehouse jobs are $15/hour with an employment longevity of 16 to 18 months. Plus, the warehouse industry is about 2 years from being "robot" distribution centers."
"The estimated tax revenue to the township would be $200,000 annually. That would cover 1 police office with equipment/car for a 40/hour per week shift schedule. Not quite the proper coverage for the additional headaches we would experience as residents, local business owners and students. Yes, Duke is offering to provide finances for road improvement, but this places a burden on the township to maintain additional roads in the future."
